Trust

When I close my eyes
and find comfort in darkness
I shield my eyes
the mirrors of my soul
from any searching lights

Even if those lights are friendly
or maybe even loving
they will reveal things
I don't want to see myself
or want to be seen.

When I close my eyes
and find comfort in darkness
I flee, from anything that oppresses me
I ignore it, just for now
to deal with it when I wake up

This may not always be smart
but sometimes I just need it
to protect, or to prepare
myself for anything that may come
or the reflections of that which has

But for you, I would never
close my eyes, nor hide my soul
for the trust I have in you
is unmatched by any trust
elsewhere in this world
